Job Summary:

Coordinates, leads and directs inpatient and/or outpatient Rehabilitation Services. Provides clinical expertise in the evaluation and treatment of patients. Serves as a role model to all rehabilitation employees by providing quality direct patient care effectively and efficiently.

 

 LOCATION OF THIS POSITION IS CLEVELAND CLINIC CANADA

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes the daily operation of a section, overseeing the clinical, clerical, and environmental areas to insure adequate coverage of all departmental functions and quality of work performed.
  • Represents and promotes team in contacts with internal and external customers maintaining a professional image in all communications with physicians, staff, patients, visitors and the public.
  • Grows program and develops the team and/or department.
  • Assists Manager in monitoring statistical and financial activities of the section and takes action to assist staff in meeting productivity and financial goals.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements and quality initiatives.
  • Develops, implements and monitors ongoing process improvement activities and provides regular updates to the Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Education:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy or a Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology.

      Certifications:

      • Appropriate license in respective clinical discipline (PT, OT, SLP) in order to allow advanced levels of practice.
      • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required for Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists.
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be required at certain sites for Speech Language Pathologists.

        Complexity of Work:

        • Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
        • Must be able to work in a stressful environment.

          Work Experience:

          • Minimum five years therapy experience and understanding of the product lines and operational metrics.
          • Previous supervisory experience preferred but not required.

            Physical Requirements:

            • Ability to walk without assistive device and to maintain balance despite sudden load in order to support patient from falling during gait training.
            • Ability to lift and reach with arms sufficiently to lift patient's arm and leg during therapeutic treatment program.
            • Sensation of touch and manual dexterity to be able to palpate muscle tension or to monitor patient pulse.
            • Visual acuity to observe patient's gross and fine motor movements in order to analyze these movements.
            • Ability to speak clearly enough to instruct patients and families who may not be able to read, and for employee communications.
            • Ability to hear or understand patient's description of symptoms and response to treatment.
            • Mental ability to interpret clinical data for the establishment and implementation of appropriate patient treatment.
            • Requires analytical, critical thinking and judgment skills.

              Personal Protective Equipment:

              • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
